I wasn't born in Ga but, I got here as quick as I could. I was born in Newton Mass. We lived there a couple of years while (Howard Blalock sr.) my dad went to the seminary. My dad was a baptist preacher, he passed in 2009 he was from New Holland, GA. My mother is Annie Odom passed in 2014 she was from Macon GA.   We moved to Gordon GA in 1947, then in 1949 we moved to Blackshear GA. I start to school in 1951 at Grady Street School 1st grade thur 4th Grade. then 5th and 6th grades at Main street school all in Blackshear GA. In 1957 we moved to Chicopee GA and finished 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Chicopee Elementary. Then went to South Hall High School for 9th - 12th and graduated in 1963. Then went to North Georgia Trade and Voc School at Clarksville Ga and graduated in late 1965 and went to work as an auto mechanic at Gainesville Ford Co and worked untill May 1966.

I was drafted into the US Army, and went to Fort Benning GA ( Induction Center) for 2 weeks. Then to Fort Riley KS, C Btry 2nd Bn 4th Arty 9th Inf Div for basic training (Custer Hill). Stayed with them for AIT (105mm Howitzer Towed), from there to Vietnam Jan 1967 on the USNS General John Pope. In Vietnam I was at Bearcat for a while on # 2 gun section then we moved to Tan Tru. About Middle of May 1967  I was (Infused) transfered to B btry 1st Bn 83rd Arty II Field Forces (8 in/175mm SP and went back to Bearcat. Then the battery moved to Ham Tan (Binh Tuy Province). Our gun (#2 was a 175mm for about 2 tubes then we changed to a 8 in) I stayed there untill Jan 1968 then came back to the world. I had 6 months left in the army. I was assigned to How Btry 1st Squdn 6th ACR at Fort George Meade MD (155mm SP). May 16 1968 my 2 years was up and went home (Cornelia,GA). No wounds except  in my mind, lots of friends, some I will never forget.
